David Greenaway

He was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham from 2008-2017. He is a Professor of Economics and established the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy. His research interests lie primarily in the fields of exporting and productivity; cross-border investment and international trade and economic development.

Professor Sir David Greenaway took up office as the sixth Vice-Chancellor of The University of Nottingham in 2008, and became Chair of the Russell Group in 2015.

Sir David was appointed to the University as a Professor of Economics in 1987 and was previously a Dean, a Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and founding Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy. He was a Member of the Government's Asia Task Force 2004-2014, and a member of its Higher Education Task Force. He is Chair of CASE Europe and a member of the National Centre for Universities and Business Leadership Council. He is also a Deputy Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire.

In 2012, Sir David was made an Honorary Citizen of the City of Ningbo in China and Honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University. In 2013, Sir David completed 'Shape of Training', a national review of the training and professional development of Doctors in the UK, coordinated by the General Medical Council.

Sir David received a knighthood for services to higher education in Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday Honours list 2014.
